Professor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     A master’s degree in sociology. Must be able to teach a range of sociology courses, e.g., Introduction to Sociology, Minority Groups, Social Problems, Applied Sociology, and Sociological Theory.

    Position Information

    Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations.

    Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

    Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the University community through teaching.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    At least a master’s degree in sociology. Must be able to teach standard general education courses, e.g., Introduction to Sociology, Minority Groups, Social Problems, etc. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Teaching experience.
