    Job Title:   Assistant Professor of Mathematics or Mathematics Education

    Job Summary/Objective:

    Sweet Briar College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics or Mathematics Education faculty position beginning in August 2024. The successful candidate will be an engaged scholar-teacher and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. They will be expected to teach both the foundational and advanced undergraduate courses to support our mathematics major and our other STEM majors, as well as potentially education program focused on preparing secondary and elementary teachers.  We encourage applications from candidates with a background in Mathematics Education, with interest in using and developing creative and engaging teaching practices for undergraduates with varying levels of pre-college preparation in mathematics.  The College’s academic calendar, with immersive three-week terms bookending traditional 12-week terms, creates an opportunity for innovative courses to take advantage of close student faculty interactions and collaboration across disciplines. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make contributions to our women’s leadership core curriculum and engage in research with undergraduates. This is one of two tenure-track mathematics positions posted by Sweet Briar College to begin in August 2024.
