Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Special Education Teacher - Grades 6-12

  • POSITION DESCRIPTION: ACE is seeking a certified special education teacher who has experience working with students with disabilities in grades 6-12

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
    2. Hold a valid GaPSC in Special Education
    3. Successful classroom teaching experience with students with disabilities for 3-5 years
    4. Experience in a co-teaching model classroom
    5. Experience working with curriculum to craft lessons for students with disabilities
    6. Experience working with students with autism is appreciated
    7. Experience in using GO-IEP to develop IEP's
    8. Good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with classroom teacher to assess student's abilities and to design engaging lessons to meet the needs of the students on the teacher's caseload
    • Keep track and assess student progress daily
    • Monitor behavior patterns and utilize interventions as needed
    • Communicate with parents on students' progress weekly
    • Manage classroom situations involving students with disabilities as needed
    • Collaborate with classroom teacher and others to ensure student progress
