Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a limited term assignment for Special Education Classroom Behavior Intervention Aide for the North County Coastal Special Education Department/Unit of the Student Services and Programs Division.

    Under immediate supervision, in a special education classroom, the Special Education Classroom Behavior Intervention Aide supports special education students with social and emotional needs through behavioral interventions and academic support; performs student data collection tasks; assists teacher with classroom maintenance and operation.

    Requirements / Qualifications

    Typical qualifying education and experience would include completion of college-level course work in general academic subject areas such as math, science and English, and work experience in a school, other educational environment, or mental health environment. Experience working with students with social and emotional needs is highly desirable.

    In order to satisfy the paraprofessional requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) (previously referred to as the NCLB Act) applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

    • Completed at least 48 semester units at an accredited college or university or
    • Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree

    It is important to note to become a substitute/limited-term employee, there will be a fingerprinting requirement that currently costs $77 (this is an up-front, out-of-pocket cost that must be paid in the form of a money order or cashier’s check). In addition, if you apply and are selected for a permanent position at any point there would be an additional $77 cost (currently) for fingerprinting as a permanent employee (taken out of your first regular paycheck).
