Job Purpose
The Activities and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for implementing and supporting activities at various sites associated with Serving Seniors. This position will directly support the Activities and Volunteer Team with all aspects of running activities such as educational, music, art, crafts, drama, and exercise programs. The Activities and Volunteer Coordinator will also provide direct support for the Serving Seniors’ volunteer program.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Activities Coordination
• Implements scheduled activities at multiple sites throughout San Diego. Tasks includes:
o Secure/replenish/inventory, deliver, and setup/breakdown equipment and supplies
o Support participating clients and volunteers
o Troubleshooting and reporting issues as they arise
• Tracks participation using scanners and/or sign-in sheets
• Maintains activity records for monthly reports
• Implements incentives and recruitment campaigns that generate senior client participation.
• Ensures that staff/site managers and clients are aware of all upcoming activities and provided up-to-date information.
• Helps evaluate the popularity and success of current activities and recommends changes as appropriate.
• Ensures that activities and events are sensitive to the cultural and physical needs of clients.
• Creates written communication such as calendars, promotional flyers, emails, etc.
Volunteer Coordination
• Assists with volunteer coordination and communication, including but not limited to hosting/welcoming, onboarding, recruitment, placement, oversight, recognition, and retention of volunteers.
• Database maintenance (pulling reports, data entry).
• Represent Serving Seniors at community outreach fairs and volunteer fairs.
*Supporting the department with special events.
*Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience (coordinating events, hosting activities and volunteers in either a non-profit or public sector setting)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Effective time management and prioritization
• Presentation Skills – the ability to create flyers and visual presentations.
• Effective oral and written communication (includes being an active listener).
• Comfortable with public speaking.
• Comfortable working with older adults.
• Experience in leading, and interacting with, both large and intimate groups.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct oneself in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or tenuous situations.
