    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

    The Healthy Families Program provides parent education and support to young parents with young children through home visiting, parent child groups, and parent support groups. Program components include parenting support, parent skill development, child development education, health/wellness education and referrals to agencies and services. Home visitors assist with the development of family goals, support parents to achieve goals, promote healthy outcomes of pregnancy, reduce child abuse and prevent developmental delays in children. Services are inclusive of the family unit (including fathers/partners) and promote family stability. Also includes data collection, program evaluation, and advocacy. Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.


    FUNCTION:

    Responsible for day to day administration management of the Healthy Families program. Responsible for planning and implementing a strength-based home visiting program, including direct oversight of staff, conducting bi-weekly staff meetings, overseeing maintenance of records and reports, documentation of measurable performance standards and reports, budget preparation and funding requests. Represents the program and agency to funders and establishes/maintains positive relationships with community programs as referral sources and sources of services for participants.

    GENERAL DUTIES:

    • Hires and provides oversight of supervision to home visiting staff and provides direct supervision to the program supervisor. 
    • Oversees the maintenance of records and data collection, including documentation of measurable performance standards, and generates reports and other information as required by funding sources and CCB.
    • In conjunction with the supervisor, assists in the preparation of the annual budget and various funding requests or grants. Monitors budget, income and expenses.
    • Advocacy: Promotes public relations and community support by establishing collaborative relationships with various resource personas and agencies in the community as referral sources and source of services for participants.  Facilitates meeting of agencies serving young parents. Develops relationship with legislators.
    • Keeps abreast of issues and trends in public health, especially as they relate to pregnancy, infant development, home safety, parenting skills, and prevention of child abuse. 
    • Convenes an Advisory Board that meets at least quarterly.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field with a minimum 3 years’ relevant experience working with multi-stressed families and in providing services to culturally diverse communities/families strongly preferred, with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate. Master’s degree preferred. 
    • Previous administrative and supervisory experience including monitoring budgets, preparing reports, and overseeing program evaluation is required. Must be able to structure time and responsibilities independently.  
    • Experience working with young children and young parents is desirable. Must have positive attitude, understanding and commitment toward strength-based family support. Must have good organizational, communication, and observation skills. 
    • Knowledge and familiarity with local health and human services as well as community resources in order to coordinate services is preferred.
    • Must have the ability to establish supportive, non-judgmental and positive relationships with others and to work as a member of a team. 
    • Experience in home visiting with families at high risk for child abuse, substance abuse, and violence and a strong background in prevention services to the 0-3 age population.
    • Must be able to document information accurately and succinctly. Computer skills necessary including ability to input information into web-based computer database. 
    • A valid driver's license and legally registered vehicle is necessary.  
    • Must have good mental and physical health in order to meet the physical and mental demands of the position.
    • Must be interested in participating in training and professional development. 
    • Must meet EOHHS CORI and SORI requirements.


    SALARY RANGE: $25.50 to $27.50 per hour. Benefits include: health, dental, vision insurance, flexible spending, account, sick and vacation time, 403 (b)retirement plan.


    WORK SCHEDULE:

    35 hours per week, with up to 40 hours per week during training period. Based in Pittsfield with some travel in Berkshire County and occasional travel to Eastern MA.


    Position begins in June 2024.
