    Accounting Manager/Controller who will be responsible for the financial accounting of all campus activities. In conjunction with the Director of Finance, this position leads the management, preparation and administration of financial reporting in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures. This “hands-on” role prepares accounting transactions, account reconciliations and provides relevant fiscal information to the executive management team. The Accounting Manager/Controller also supports the preparation of the College’s annual financial statements and annual review by external auditors. The Accounting Manager/Controller will continuously strive to improve the development and efficiency of the department and the accounting staff.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide oversight of the daily operations related to cash management and general accounting areas within the finance office.
    • Efficiently and effectively manage the accounting function and produce the required financial reports within institutional deadlines and in accordance with GAAP.
    • Assist with various compliance efforts (tax, regulatory, institutional, etc.).
    • Answer questions and provide support to Business Office personnel and all other constituencies within the wider College community.
    • Prepare and perform analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts as part of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes.
    • Aid in restricted and unrestricted cash management.
    • Prepare analyses of individual departments or program spending as requested by the CFO or Director of Finance.
    • Assist in preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements (internal and external).
    • Provide information to Auditors, as needed.
    • Additional job related duties as assigned.

    Skills

    • Astute attention to detail to assure the general ledger and financial statements are in accordance with GAAP.
    • Technical and financial skills that include financial reconciliation, modeling, statistics and analytics.
    • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and complete priorities.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, students, faculty, staff and all internal and external constituents.
    • A strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    • Experience with Not-for-profit accounting, preferably higher education
    • A strong background in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Experience with Blackbaud software a plus.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
    • 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or audit in not-for-profit organization, preferably higher education.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, financial accounting software and technology.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general financial information, publications, technical procedures and government regulations.
    • Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and solve problems effectively.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
