    This position is in person at our corporate office in Livingston, NJ.

    Job Summary:

    The Assistant Director, Children Services, will oversee, administer and supervise as needed, the activities for Children Services to ensure implementation of established policies and procedures to achieve goals, and objectives.

    This position reports to the Director of Community Services.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee Children Services (Group Respite, Individual Respite, Self-Hired Respite), Life Management and HAP programs to ensure quality, compliance, and best practices are delivered and maintained
    • Provide consistent and accurate information to the Director of Community Services regarding all program needs, concerns, issues along with recommendations to manage needs, concerns, and/or issues
    • Ensure that DCF, DDD, CMS and The Arc of Essex County standards are being met in all aspects of program operations and management
    • Provide training as needed to the Children Services team
    • Responsible for DCF attendance and billing under the direction of the Director of Adult Community Services
    • Develop comprehensive Life Management Plans that meet the ongoing needs of consumers and families within the Life Management program.
    • Provide training to the families in the Life Management Program related to Life Management Program goals and objectives
    • Identify, develop, and maintain outside relationships to support the ongoing education and family support needs of all service recipients, to include but not limited to overall systems issues and transition activities.
    • As assigned act in the role of agency liaison to the community, school districts and other agencies serving children in Essex County
    • Assist in preparing annual budgets for Children’s Services programs
    • Conduct regular reviews of current budget status of assigned Arc of Essex County Children’s Services programs
    • As assigned by the Director of Community Services, initiate, implement, and/or oversee activities designed to bring new consumers into existing programs; open new programs; and/or improve existing programs
    • Attend all internal and external meetings and trainings as assigned by the Director of Community Services
    • Perform any other responsibilities that are directly related to the well-being of the individuals or the needs of the program as directed by the Director of Community Services.

    Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

    Education / Work Experience / Skills:

    • Master's degree, in Special Ed, Psychology or related field, preferred with at least 3 years of DDD experience in administration
    • Or Bachelor’s degree in the above field with 5 years of DDD experience in administration
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite
