    Y&H Soda Foundation has deep roots in the East Bay, whereour founders lived and worked. Based on their intent and legacy, ourgrantmaking has focused on improving the lives of low-income residents of Alamedaand Contra Costa Counties. Initially, the Foundation funded a variety ofnon-profit organizations doing exceptional work in our communities. However,starting in 2010, we became more focused in our efforts, primarily partneringwith organizations helping families earn a living wage, save for the future andbecome active community participants. Recent events have driven us to reimagineour work and how best to support low-income people of the East Bay, with afocus on people of color and immigrants. Based on our founders’ values andCatholic Social Teaching, we are striving to create an equitable region whereeveryone thrives, belongs, contributes to the common good and participates inshaping the future. We recently completed a new strategic plan that centersequity at the core of all that we do. As we work to advance equity in Alamedaand Contra Costa Counties, we will focus our resources going forward in twoareas: Economic Justice and Immigrant Rights and Inclusion.

    JobSummary: 

    Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the ProgramOfficer of Immigrant Rights and Inclusion, the Program Officer (PO) forEconomic Justice plays a critical role within the Foundation’s small,hard-working, results-oriented team. This position advances the Foundation’s goals in economic justice, byresearching potential grantees, assessing alignment and preparing written andoral recommendations on grant proposals to the CEO and Board of Directors.  The PO will possess strong analytical and presentation skills to informrelevant parties on key demographic and economic justice issues related to theFoundation’s impact goals.  Equallyimportant is that the PO exemplifies a professional and positive team spirit,with enthusiasm and report for the history and work of the Foundation.

    Duties/ Responsibilities:

    Grantmaking:

    Responsiblefor reviewing grant proposals, grant reports, conducting site visits,evaluating, and recommending grants to the Board of Directors, under thedirection of the CEO;

    Provideexceptional support to applicants and grantees to facilitate their grantrequests and reports on the Foundation’s online system;

    Developand maintain a current pipeline of prospective grants; monitor budgetcommitments to ensure annual program and payout goals are successfully met;

    Conductresearch, analysis and write strategy papers for key foundation prioritiesinitiatives and emerging issues;

    Partnerwith the Immigrant Rights Program Officer to identify and develop fundingopportunities at the intersection of both program areas. 

    GrantsManagement:

    Workclosely with administrative staff to ensure monitoring and management of grantsawarded and online inquiries are streamlined;

    Utilizeelectronic grant management system to maintain grant database and ensure thatall grant documentation is complete, accurate and current;

    Reviewgrant agreements, award and payment letters, process grant reports, managepayment schedules and respond to applicant inquiries by phone and e-mail.

    ExternalLeadership:

    Plan andconduct convenings of grantees, topical experts and key stakeholders to advancegrantmaking goals, as needed;

    Workeffectively and collegially with a diverse community of nonprofitorganizations, including culturally, racially and language diverseorganizations.

    InternalLeadership and Support: 

    SupportCEO in planning and coordinating Foundation Board meetings, to includeconducting research, preparing framing comments and writing meeting summariesfor CEO reports to the Board;

    Activelyparticipate in a culture of learning within the organization and professionaldevelopment to include identifying opportunities to improve the grantmakingprocess;

    Becommitted to the Foundation’s mission and values and modeling those valuesinternally and externally;

    Contributeto the Foundation’s racial equity work and foster a culture of diversity andcollaboration;

    Providegeneral administrative support in this small office environment where everyonepitches in as needed.

    Qualifications: 

    Bachelor’sDegree in a related discipline; at least 5 years of professional experience asa practitioner and/or grant maker in the field of economic justice andinclusion, preferred; or relevant experience can be substituted for formaleducation;

    Previousexperience/knowledge working in diverse immigrant and low-income communities;

    Abilityto coach, support and provide technical assistance to grantees, as needed;

    Abilityto analyze financial statements and determine financial health of grantapplicant organizations;

    Proficiencyin the MS Office suite of products; familiarity grant management and databasesoftware;

    Exemplaryoral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

    Astuteorganizational, time management, attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking,problem-solving and leadership skills;

    Abilityto work well alone and within a small team environment.

    Compensation:

    $120Kannual base salary, for this full-time exempt position

    Benefits:

    Healthinsurance paid at 80% of the employee’s premiums and 60% of the employee’sdependents;

    401(K)with a 5% annual company match and 10% unmatched by the company (total of 15%annually), which is fully vested after 3 years;

    Paidvacation accrued from start date at a rate of 1.33 on a monthly basis up to 16days annually; increasing to 21 days in years 2 – 5; increasing to 26 days inyear 6;

    Paidsick time accrued from start date at a rate of .83 per month and capped up to30 days annually;

    Long-termdisability for employee only. 

    WorkingHours:

    9:00AM –5:30PM Monday through Friday

    Location:

    Moraga,CA  - 100% in office through the training period, then hybrid working atleast 3 days per week in the office, including Mondays and Thursdays.
