    Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will drive and develop global strategic plans for programs within Amgen’s commercialization process.

    As the Director of Global Program Management, acting as the chief operating office (COO) for Obesity program teams, this role collaborates with the Product Team Lead (PTL) to develop and execute strategic plans for Amgen's Obesity portfolio. Key responsibilities include protecting product value, managing timelines accurately, and improving operational efficiency. This requires a strong commitment to results, a data-driven approach for planning and execution, and effective leadership to drive the Program Management Team forward in developing therapeutic solutions.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Championing the 'Amgen First' mindset and demonstrating cross-functional leadership within the obesity teams.

    • Driving the creation and consistent completion of high-quality, cross-functional global strategic plans in partnership with the Product Team Lead (PTL).

    • Exercising business acumen to understand the impacts of strategic options on product value, speed, and efficiency.

    • Utilizing advanced project management skills to guide strategy development and the execution of Work Package Team (WPT) activities aligned with the Product Team (PT) strategy.

    • Facilitating collaboration across disciplines to ensure effective and efficient execution of the program.

    • Leading with courage and demonstrating self-awareness by anticipating needs, managing risks, and removing barriers to maintain adherence to program timelines.

    • Demonstrating strong knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area and the product, including clinical programs, market opportunity, and competition.

    • Being accountable for program timeline deliverables, including ongoing critical path assessment and implementation of mitigations.

    • Leading the Global Program Management Team and managing talent of direct reports, including Senior Program Managers (SPM) and Program Managers (PM).

    • Communicating effectively and escalating key program issues and risks to the PTL and/or Program Management Therapeutic Area leadership.

    • Aligning cross-functional plans with strategy and business objectives to deliver on time and drive cross-functional collaboration and plan adherence.

    • Leading the development and management of integrated project plans, timelines, risk management plans, and communication plans.

    • Ensuring adherence to the Amgen commercialization framework and governance processes, engaging in an agile and effective manner.

    • Managing program deliverables, including but not limited to goals, dashboards, charters, and integrated project plans.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Relevant experience OR

    • Master’s degree and 8 years of Relevant experience OR

    • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Relevant experience AND

    • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Pharmaceutical experience in either Obesity or Diabetes

    • 10 years industry experience within the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare related field, with advanced understanding of key functions; including, but not limited to, Research, Pre-Clinical, Clinical, Manufacturing, Commercial, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs

    • Demonstrated ability in managing and/or leading cross-functional drug development teams

    • Staff Management and staff development experience: Ability to coach, motivate, and communicate vision/mission, and provide career path and technical advice

    • Global experience within all phases of drug development

    • Outstanding interpersonal skills, negotiating skills and relationship management skills and ability to influence behaviors and outcomes in the absence of direct authority

    • Ability to coach, motivate others and teams toward higher performance

    • High degree of creativity and foresight in anticipating and solving complex program issues

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly and effectively present cross-functionally and at all levels, including Senior and Executive Management information formally and informally
