    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Accountable for day-to-day operations of department unit through implementation of strategy, policy, direction and action plans. The incumbent will manage the ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to maintain and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. Accountable for driving excellence throughout the assigned area.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; Master’s Degree preferred.
    • 2 – 5 years’ program management work experience required, preferably within the healthcare industry.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing with all levels of management and employees throughout the organization.
    • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Lean Six Sigma training, Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) designations preferred

    Patient Safety Culture Duties:

    Safety Culture Management

    • Collaborates across departments and throughout Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) to assess and promote a culture of patient safety.

    • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and/ or evaluating patient safety principles and practices throughout Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

    • Lead the education and implementation of the Patient Safety Culture Survey required of all Florida-licensed hospitals. Collaborate with key stakeholders to build action plans based off of survey results.

    • Serve as local lead and system liaison for organizational employee engagement survey patient safety questions. Identify areas of opportunity and work with high-focus department and unit leaders to implement improvement activities.

    • Develop strong, professional relationships with all members of the interdisciplinary care team and collaborate with leadership and staff to facilitate the successful integration of patient safety principles into current and future practice.

    Hero Incident Report Management

    • Serves a critical role in educating, configuring, and troubleshooting the adverse event reporting database.

    • Review and investigate patient safety hazards and events by reviewing near miss and adverse event data submitted to the organization’s electronic database in a timely manner while prioritizing events for investigation considering not only harmful events, but the potential for harm and populations impacted.

    • Supports a learning environment by encouraging the use of just culture principles when responding to events helping departmental managers balance human error with accountability for patient safety; uses trends identified by internal and external organizations when identifying and interpreting safety hazards.

    • Leads and participates in interdisciplinary patient safety committee meetings at a hospital and health system level.

    • Identifies, tracks and trends significant issues and accurately identifies and prioritizes cases for appropriate review.

    • Assists in addressing patient safety issues presented to Patient Safety Department; consistently demonstrates the ability to help other departments resolve safety concerns; configures and troubleshoots the adverse event reporting database; always demonstrates sensitivity to staff involved in patient safety events and works to resolve issues by sharing peer support resources with staff who have been involved in a medical error.

    • Pulls routine and ad hoc reports summarizing trends. Drafts materials for and presents as requested.
