Program Specialist (Non-Profit) plans and coordinates one or more programs of a non-profit organization. Coordinates fundraising, budgeting, and community outreach efforts. Being a Program Specialist (Non-Profit) develops an event calendar and implements programs that align with the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Creates program materials, establishes staffing requirements, and ensures that the program achieves stated objectives. Additionally, Program Specialist (Non-Profit) measures the performance of programs and makes adjustments to optimize results. Utilizes a client relationship management (CRM) or another system to organize information and facilitate outreach communications. Works with partners on special events that publicize the organization and its programs to the community. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Program Specialist (Non-Profit) work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Relief Youth Specialist (Non-Benefited)

  • Provides services, including guidance counseling, behavioral observation, and custodial care, to youth detained in the Juvenile Detention facility. This position serves as a direct caregiver under the direction of a Shift Supervisor, providing structure and supervision for youth in detention.
     
    Important details about this position to review before applying: 
    • This is a part-time, non-benefited position working at the Juvenile Detention Center at the Fillmore Complex in West Olive, MI. 
    • This position is limited to 1,000 working hours or less, per year. 
    • This position will be required to be available and able to work all shiftsShifts are the following:
      • 1st shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
      • 2nd shift: 2:45 p.m. - 10:45 p.m.
      • 3rd shift: 10:30 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
    • The hourly rate of pay is $22.4606/hour.  No overtime or holiday pay. 
    • No guarantee of hours.  
    • Holidays and weekends will be needed. 
    • If selected, 80 hours of training must be completed within a few weeks of being hired. 
    This posting is open on a continuous basis and hiring is done on an as-needed basis.
    Associate's degree or successful completion of sixty (60) semester credit hours or equivalent quarter credit hours in psychology, sociology, child development, criminal justice, or a closely related field, with a minimum of one year of experience in a child/youth care facility or institution serving at-risk youth, preferred.

    Licenses and Certifications: 
    • CPR Certification. (May obtain later)
    • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License. (Must posess)
    • Basic First Aid Certification. (May obtain later)
    • Crisis Prevention/Intervention Training preferred.

    The qualified candidates will have the following knowledge and skills:
    • Working knowledge of the juvenile justice system and federal, state, and local statutes and regulations with respect to the involuntary detention of juveniles.
    • Good working knowledge of accepted principles and practices of guidance and treatment as related to the rehabilitation of delinquent, emotionally impaired, mentally ill, and socially maladjusted adolescents.
    • Working knowledge of crisis management, crowd control, crisis prevention and restraint techniques.
    • An understanding of child and adolescent development and court programs, with basic knowledge of the practice and principles of social casework and standard format and content of case notes.
    • Ability to gain the respect, confidence and cooperation of youth, and to interact with youth with problems in a positive, patient and caring manner while maintaining appropriate discipline and structure.
