The Pediatric Trauma Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the delivery of specialized care to pediatric patients who have experienced traumatic injuries at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC).
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Advanced Practice degree

Minimum of 5 years working in a Trauma, Pediatrics or Critical Care department in a professional classification

Performance and process improvement experience
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Active participation in regional or national trauma organizations
-
Critical thinking, program development and project management skills
-
Skills in group facilitation and/or team building
-
Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills
-
Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Minimum of 3 years working in Pediatric trauma in a professional classification
-
Master's Degree in Nursing, Advanced Practice or other health related field.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or other advanced practice medical degree.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of the Supervisor, Pediatric Trauma at Hackensack Meridian Health may include:

Responsible for the day-to-day processes of the pediatric trauma program.

Oversight of the performance improvement activities for the pediatric and adult trauma program
-
Cover the responsibilities of the Trauma Operations Manager in their absence
-
Ensures all team members are knowledgeable in emergency/disaster response policies and procedures with unit-specific response plans as needed
-
Input data into the trauma registry including but not limited to TQIP, Organizing information and presenting at monthly pediatric trauma PIPS meetings
-
Involvement in educational, clinical, research, administrative and outreach activities of the pediatric trauma program
-
Participates in outreach activities/programs that are associated with pediatric trauma education
-
Coordinates educational activities with the trauma/pediatric education departments
-
Assists in writing pediatric trauma guidelines/policies
-
Attends required meetings related to trauma as needed
-
Coordinates and facilitates ACS verification visits on a 3 year cycle

Demonstrates leadership skills by displaying effective communication, coaching, and mentoring of team members
-
Prioritizes organizational goals and incorporates them into standard work, up to and including leading and/or participating in committee work with clear performance improvement goals that are consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of nursing and the organization
