Program Supervisor coordinates and monitors the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of company programs. Responsible for aiding in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes and coordinating preparations of proposals, plans, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts. Being a Program Supervisor develops new business and expands product line. Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules and develops solutions to program problems. Additionally, Program Supervisor recommends changes to improve process efficiency and alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Program Supervisor contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Can operate and teach, train, mentor and supervise well behaved criminal offender workers to operate all major professional culinary kitchen equipment/areas to include: scullery, bakery, advanced prep/cooking, tray line, cafeteria service, and cold/dry storage.
Collaborates with managers/personnel, purchasing staff, vendors, and other areas/agencies to ensure an adequate supply of food, material and equipment is available to maintain food service operations.
Account for delivery of food, supplies, and equipment.
Conducts regular and spot check inventories of food, supplies, or equipment.
Maintains accurate records and logs.
Identifies problems or potential problem areas and collaborates with stakeholders to implement solutions.
Ensure proper maintenance of all food service equipment and areas.
Organizes food service areas/operations for maximum use and efficiency.
May need to drive a non-CDL box truck or another vehicle.
This is a supervisory level position that supervises well behaved criminal offender food service workers. 24 months of previous experience managing/supervising subordinate personnel in a culinary production kitchen, restaurant or another food service related industry is required.
A High School diploma or GED is required.
Culinary or food service related education, certification or training is preferred.
Experience adhering to OSHA workplace safety standards, food safety standards and health regulations/standards/laws is preferred.
Knowledge about menu development, dietary requirements, food safety and health agency requirements are preferred.
This job is NOT public safety certified and does not require peace officer status or certification.
Typical work week will be four days, with three days off. Two 12 hour shifts from 5:00 am to 5:00 PM and two 8 hour shifts either 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
All correctional kitchens operate 365 days per year and the work schedule may include weekends and holidays. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week; overtime is possible.
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around and operating large production kitchen equipment and working with hazardous chemicals, etc.
Although correctional officers will be present to provide safety and security, there are some risks found in potentially dangerous correctional environments. You will receive training and tools to help mitigate these risks.
The work requires moderate physical exertion such as standing for long periods of time, regularly operating large production kitchen equipment, frequent walking, lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and climbing, crouching, or crawling is also possible.
