Program Supervisor coordinates and monitors the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of company programs. Responsible for aiding in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes and coordinating preparations of proposals, plans, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts. Being a Program Supervisor develops new business and expands product line. Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules and develops solutions to program problems. Additionally, Program Supervisor recommends changes to improve process efficiency and alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Greenwich Youth Conservation Program (GYCP) is a summer employment program for Greenwich teens ages 14 and 15 which offer teens a first job opportunity to learn teamwork and practical skills while enhancing the town’s environment. The Program is a unique public/private program that successfully incorporates education, skill building and personal growth through a demanding two-week work session spent digging, planting and maintaining Greenwich parks and properties. During lunch and other appropriate times, speakers on environmental and youth issues are invited to give the participants additional skills as knowledge which will be helpful to them in their future work and lives. This proven program is overseen by personnel from the Greenwich Department of Human Services and Parks and Recreation who spend time coordinating activities, developing worksites and supervision of participants.
The Greenwich Youth Corps is a summer employment program for Greenwich teens ages 16 and 17. The Program is a unique public/private program that successfully incorporates education, skill building and personal growth through two demanding four-week work sessions spent digging, planting, caring for Land Trust nature preserves and improving local habitats. Youth Corps participants are exposed to career opportunities and issues in environmental-related fields. Students will learn about native/invasive plant identification, sustainable trail maintenance, beekeeping and pollinator conservation, community service and food insecurity, land and water resource management, and more. This program is overseen by personnel from the Greenwich Department of Human Services and Greenwich Land Trust who spend time coordinating activities, developing worksites and supervision of participants.
Season: Weekdays starting tentatively June 24, 2024 - August 15, 2024 (8 weeks)
Hours: 8:00 A.M.- 4:00 P.M., 40 hours/week (weekdays only)
This is a seasonal temporary position.
Minimum Qualifications & Special Necessary Requirements
Must have experience working with teens in a youth setting. Teaching experience preferred.
Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle in State of CT and be able to drive participants throughout Town of Greenwich.
Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR/AED certification prior to program start date.
Must be prompt, responsible and have good attendance.
Must be comfortable and confident communicating directly with staff, parents, and participants.
Preference given to those with conservation experience. Some college experience is preferred.
Must be able to drive a rental car (Suburban) in the state of Connecticut- based on the rental car requirements drivers must be 25 years of age or older.
Subject to a background check.
Supervises, leads and directs participants.
Works under the direction of GYCP Youth Administrator, Department of Human Services and Parks and Recreation Supervisor or Land Trust Supervisor.
Works closely with Greenwich Land Trust staff to assign job tasks and facilitate a safe work environment.
Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers, participants and general public.
Administers emergency response and first aid if needed. Documents all incidents on issued accident report and notifies Director and Parents or guardians.
Leads and coordinates recreational activities.
Drives participants to worksites and locations throughout Town of Greenwich.
Spends full days outdoors.
Position may also work with Greenwich Youth Conservation Program. (Greenwich Youth Corps program is a more intensive program than GYCP working with older teens.)
