    Home Towne Electric, Inc. is a fast growing multi-million-dollar electrical contractor in Lake Villa, IL. specializing in the installation of Traffic Signals and St. Lighting all throughout Lake, McHenry, Cook, and Dupage Counties. We are looking for a well organized, detail-oriented self motivated candidate to join our fast paced construction office team.

    We are looking to hire an assistant electrical estimator to be taught and trained while working alongside some of our senior staff to help determine the approximate costs of various electrical installations for commercial projects.

    The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, have an attention to detail, a high degree of efficiency and the ability to work well under pressure.

    Essential Functions:

    • Prepare quantity takeoffs and prepare complete labor and material cost estimates
    • Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation
    • Outline and prepare responses to RFP's and RFQ's
    • Developing relationships with Contractors, Suppliers, Subcontractors, & Consultants
    • Review project documents including contract, plans, specifications
    • Assist with proposal preparation
    • Prepare and submit change orders
    • Attend pre-bid meetings as required
    • Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for Estimating
    • Assist other members of the Estimating team with cost estimates and bid package preparation
    • Coordinate with Project Management
    • Support project management on award contracts
    • Prepare high level project schedules
    • Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding of cost estimates
    • Follow-up at the end of projects to close any loops in the estimating process to include final documents, measurements, etc.
    • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office in Lake Villa, Illinois.

    About You:

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in Electrical estimating
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; or equivalent construction/Union trade background or combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of local electrical codes, Specifically IDOT Standards
    • Proven ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals and other relevant documents
    • Working knowledge of electrical materials and methods of installation
    • General knowledge of engineered material costs
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
    • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Team player mentality, the ability to listen, learn and understand peers
    • Self-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independently
