Project Controls Manager develops and implements standardized project controls to manage budgets, scheduling, and quality for engineering, construction, and other types of projects. Establishes controls and operating policies that identify, monitor, and mitigate risk factors that could impact the success of a project. Being a Project Controls Manager creates standard methods for project estimating, procurement, accounting, work breakdown structure, contract management, reporting, and other project-related processes. Ensures controls address cost or budget considerations, scope changes, supplier performance, and other risk levels. Additionally, Project Controls Manager provides guidance and consultation to project managers. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Project Controls Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Project Controls Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. We have a new role for a Project Controls Manager who can lead the teams across the full lifecycle of project through excellent interface management and stake holder management.

    Job Description

    We work on projects of all sizes from one-off developments to mega-programmes, from planning the future development of international airports to site based construction of individual buildings, or the largest rail infrastructure projects in the country. We cover everything from leading teams, planning works, tracking progress and business case delivery to bringing assets into use. 

    The main purpose of the Project Controls Manager is to optimise project success by delivering against agreed program objectives. Some of the key specifications we attribute to the purpose include:

    • Assuring that the cost management of the program is governed by controlled processes, procedures and tools.
    • Integrating program level data and producing the program level cost reporting including productivity and performance data production and analysis.
    • Providing program-level aspects of budget management, change management, forecasting, reporting, managing and controlling of all the costs, assets and liabilities associated with and arising from the planning, design, procurement, commercial, construction and commissioning process.
    • Change management including review of project and program trends.
    • Providing support to the financial management and accounting procedures.
    • Capturing and sharing lessons learned and implementing continuous improvement on cost initiatives, cost management processes and controls.
    • Dealing effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 10 years working in a Project Controls role.
    • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
    • Strong knowledge of Cost Management and Cost Control. 
    • Experience working in the infrastructure and/or construction sector.
    • Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects at various stages of delivery.
    • Experience operating at various stages in the project lifecycle.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills including coordination and communication.
    • Self-motivated team player with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
