Project Engineer - Construction provides technical oversight, review, and engineering analysis of construction projects to ensure compliance with time, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements. Reviews and approves specifications, designs, bids, contracts, drawings, change orders, and progress reports. Being a Project Engineer - Construction monitors project progress. Identifies and assesses engineering project risks, and develops mitigation strategies and solutions. Additionally, Project Engineer - Construction facilitates collaboration among project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Project Engineer - Construction work is closely managed.     Salary: $6,510.00 - $8,758.00 Monthly

    Responsibilities:

    Project Management:

    • Direct the work of consultants and assigned project support staff; monitor the work of contractors.
    • Communicate project details to stakeholders, including schedules, impacts, and contract additions/deletions.
    • Provide cost control by utilizing modern procedures to effectively document disputes, evaluate construction schedules, and apply the latest statutory, and regulatory project types and management practices.
    • Provide evaluation of contract damages related to delays, impacts on scheduling, and change order work effect on the total budget.
    • Review and approve progress payment requests and product submittal approvals.
    • Perform compliance inspections and stakeholder training and/or turnover.

    Development of Cost Estimates and Project Documents:

    • Analyze assigned projects to evaluate the extent of work needed to create an accurate cost estimate.
    • Prepare timely and accurate cost engineering services in an independent manner.
    • Prepare cost estimates for facilities planning based on planning or conceptual studies.
    • Prepare contract bid comparison estimates.
    • Prepare cost estimates for capital budget acquisition.
    • Create drawings to depict the work to show the scale and quantities of work using AutoCAD.
    • Assemble relevant documents and solicit bids in accordance with state law and DNR policy.
    • Draft construction project proposals for submission to grant funding agencies.

    Though this is a current 2-year project position, we plan to seek an ongoing funding source to eventually make this position permanent. The incumbent will have an opportunity to compete for that position when it becomes available.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field AND 4 years of verifiable construction industry experience that includes a minimum of 2 years of practical leadership experience

    OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

    • Experience developing and organizing public works construction projects.
    • Experience with Construction Cost Estimating.
    • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
    • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and public records retention and requests are followed.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

    Pay: $78,120.00 - $105,096.00 per year
