Job Responsibilities
Take a lead role in brainstorming, developing, executing, and closing capital projects. For the candidate to be successful, he or she should be able to effectively work independently and in teams. Will support the startup of new installations and operations of existing processes.
- Provide project engineering support for the Hubbell, MI facility
- Manage projects of varying size and complexity ($10,000 - $2,000,000)
- Consult & develop relationships with new and existing vendors, contractors, and engineers as required.
- Develop project RFQ/RFP, scopes of work, detailed capital cost estimates, project schedules, and bid specifications.
- Design and implementation of process modifications, including, but not limited to, safety, throughput, and energy efficiency improvements
- Overall Project Implementation includes document preparation, drawing review and approval, development of equipment specifications and acquisition, contract construction monitoring and cost/scope/schedule management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Management of Change (MOC)Provide technical expertise through participation in process hazard analyses (PHA)
- Always work in a safe and efficient manner, performing all required SH&E responsibilities.
- Execute tasks using recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices including industry codes and standards
- Analyzes and processes information to develop future project ideas and project justification.
- Participate in operational and mechanical trouble shooting in all process areas in the plant
- Develop and interacts with the computerized maintenance management system and ERP (Navision)
- Develop pro-active engineering solutions based on RCFA findings
- Support the safe start-up of new equipment and processes. Evaluate equipment installation and start-ups
- Provide project management support for equipment / system upgrades
- Updates P&IDs and other technical documents using AutoCAD
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Less than 5% of travel required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering; advanced degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience working in a chemical or energy plant environment
- 2-5 years of project engineering experience in an industrial plant environment; chemical plant experience a plus
- Relevant Co-op/Internship experience considered
- Familiarity with (PMI) PMBOK. CAPM or PMP certification a plus.
- Experience with the application of process plant equipment, including rotating equipment, piping, heat exchangers, reactors, tanks, vessels and control systems
- Technical training in chemical and process operations
- Strong production systems analytical skills
- Strong equipment / process technical knowledge
- Strong Organizational skills
- Able to perform mathematical equations necessary for position's essential duties
- Able to learn, understand & support company policies and procedures
- Able to recognize and communicate to management any difficulties or problems as related to this position's essential duties and responsibilities
- Strong computer base skills - MS Office
- Ability to travel as needed
