The University of Northern Iowa Metal Casting Center is a nationally recognized leader in foundry research, applied technology, and technical business assistance. Two facilities allow us to enhance research and testing. The materials research and foundry focused site is located in the Industrial Technology Center (ITC) on campus at UNI. The Foundry 4.0 Center featuring North America's largest commercially available 3D printer is located at Cedar Valley TechWorks in Waterloo. Our efforts and projects link university-grade research, resources, and students to private sector applications.
The Center is adding a Project Engineering Manager to its team. The Project Engineering Manager will be responsible for: consulting with assigned clients concerning Metal Casting Center and Foundry 4.0 Center services; identifying client needs and interests and determining the nature/extent of Center assistance required; developing, planning and coordinating federal, local or commercial research projects; developing and coordinating chemical, physical and mechanical material testing methods; assisting in planning, developing and delivering center programs; planning and coordinating Center operations; participating in the preparation of grant proposals and funding requests; and conducting on-site review of client foundry operations.
Bachelor's degree in industrial technology, engineering or related field required.
At least three years of metal casting industry experience required. Must be able to work on International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) restricted programs.
Master's degree as well as exposure to applied research in foundry operations preferred.
