Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Description

    SCI Engineering is a multi-discipline firm offering a variety of services from the design development stage through construction. We specialize in Geotechnical, Environmental, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources and Construction Material Testing services.

    A project level manager which, with minimum supervision, performs task and project management for all but the most complex jobs. This individual is responsible for some marketing and client maintenance. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of all aspects of construction material testing, including earthwork, reinforced concrete, masonry, foundations and more.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Reviews the work of the contractors and their employees to assure that the approved plans and specifications are being followed and that the relevant codes and ordinances are being observed.
    • Demonstrates competence to the satisfaction of our clients and building official, with the knowledge and skills needed to perform inspections of materials and workmanship that are critical to the integrity of the building structure.
    • Be the primary point of contact for our client and other members of the clients construction team for all Construction Material Testing (CMT) services, attending pre-activity meetings, and manage scope/contract changes.
    • Provides independent technical management of most projects and writes most reports.
    • Exhibits good understanding of various technical concerns, their mitigation, and construction procedures.
    • Assists project engineers in performing engineering analyses, studies, evaluations, and reports.
    • Ensures that all records, reports, and billings are complete, accurate, and timely.
    • Provides direct supervision of field technicians, including training and performance reviews.
    • Performs related duties as required or as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications


    Qualifications

    • Minimum of a High School Diploma or the equivalent required, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
    • At least 5 years of experience working on a wide range of CMT projects. Experience as lead or coordinating technician on a multi-technician project is highly preferrable.
    • Multiple Certifications required, and may include ACI, MoDOT/IDOT, ICC, PTI, or NiCET required.
    • Prior experience with municipal and infrastructure work is a plus.
