Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     The technical project manager manages and ensures the timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects; establishes technical requirements for the project; defines project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks; and oversees the project team in the planning, tracking, and execution of the project from initiation to completion. Projects are a set of related activities needed to produce specific products or services to meet customer's requirements. Projects develop work packages that define what will be accomplished to meet specific programmatic needs and produce the work products defined by the work packages.

    Assumes responsibility for day-to-day administrative/operational management of all activities and functions in a designated program area within a line or staff department, including contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of program policies, procedures and standards; determining program service levels and enhancements; assists with the development of and monitoring program budgets; providing technical advice to staff, other departments, and performs related work as required. DOE experience supporting construction projects, direct involvement in Risk Management, and using EVMS programs.

    Prefer prior DOE experience supporting D&D, environmental restoration and 413.3B construction projects, using EVMS programs including P6 and Cobra. Experience in developing and nurturing effective high-level internal and/or external customer relationships. Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to completion. Ability to prepare and deliver performance status communications to all levels of management, both internal and external.

    Position typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree and at least twelve years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    1. DOE experience MUST be documented on resume.
    2. EVMS experience MUST be documented on resume.

    * Possess the knowledge of methods, processes, and programs used to manage project documents.

    * Effectively communicate and use interpersonal skills both in and out of the field

    * Ability to maintain documentation integrity that meets and/or exceeds LANL standards.

    * Ability to follow work packages, procedures, and specifications.

    * Proactively work with general contractors to ensure the successful completion of projects through proper documentation submission, tracking, and filing.

    * Effectively collaborate with team members on multiple projects daily.

    * Ability to effectively manage changes to scope, schedule, procedure, submittals, drawings, throughout project, while keeping changes in a clean, organized for quick and easy access.
