Project Management Director develops and directs project management operations and strategic planning to meet organizational goals. Provides overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery. Being a Project Management Director establishes methodologies to set productivity and quality targets and to assess results for all projects. Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Project Management Director monitors and analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and to propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a project management certification. Typically reports to top management. The Project Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Project Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Beltrami County is creating an eligibility list for a full-time benefited Director of Natural Resources Management to manage, supervise, and direct departmental activities and employees. 


    Performs complex professional work in the management of sustainable natural resource, recreation, 6-site County park system, and real estate management programs on tax-forfeited lands, departmental management, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the County Administrator.  Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department.Education and Experience
    Minimum requirements are:
    • Bachelor's Degree related to forest, land or natural resources management and
    • At least five years of experience with diverse natural resource management activities including the management and conservation of tax forfeited lands, forests, water, wildlife, recreation and other natural resources
    • Three years of supervisory experience preferred
    • Valid Driver's License
    Job offer contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen and background check.Qualification Requirements

    Essential Functions
    Manages, supervises, and directs departmental activities and employees; hires, assigns and directs work, supports, and evaluates department employees.
    Administers, directs, and supervises departmental operations, programs, and activities on County-managed tax-forfeited land; prepares, monitors, and manages department budget and departmental revenues and expenditures; prepares policies and fiscal controls to meet financial objectives.
    Prepares information for and advises County Board regarding natural resource management; speaks to natural resource issues in public settings.
    Develops, initiates, updates, and monitors programs that utilize, conserve, and sustain the land base, natural resources, and other assets of the tax-forfeited trust.
    Analyzes and interprets trends, forecasts, models, and other data points influencing natural resource management; recommends revisions of policy and strategy.
    Conducts sealed bid and oral timber auctions, land exchange, and land sales.
    Participates on boards, advisory committees, and panels as county representative
    Researches laws, regulations, and ordinances; drafts various legal documents and contracts.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of forest land management and administration; thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to natural resource, recreational, and real estate management on tax-forfeited lands; ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to analyze facts and prepare detailed recommendations and reports; ability to plan, supervise and review the work of subordinates; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, county officials, state organizations, employees, vendors, consultants, and the general public.

    Physical Requirements
    This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work frequently sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using of measuring devices, operating machines and operating motor vehicles or equipment; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and disease carrying insects; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).Special Requirements
    Valid Driver's License.
