Project Management Director develops and directs project management operations and strategic planning to meet organizational goals. Provides overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery. Being a Project Management Director establishes methodologies to set productivity and quality targets and to assess results for all projects. Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Project Management Director monitors and analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and to propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a project management certification. Typically reports to top management. The Project Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Project Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Summary:  Manage a team of Project Managers in the planning and execution of the project management function through allocating and assigning resources, overseeing team deliverables, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and establishing consistent project management protocols         

            

    Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 50% of the time including international travelNormal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.  Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate sales team and customer schedules.        

            

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:       

            

    1. Responsible for the overall project management function including providing leadership, allocating and coordinating resources, and oversight of processes.
    2. Oversee a team of Project Managers and ensures project deliverables are executed consistent with established standards and strategy.
    3. Plan project management operations, establish deadlines, assign responsibilities, and oversee completion of multiple projects simultaneously.
    4. Develop, implement, and manage standard operating procedures for the project management function.
    5. Drive collaboration and consensus between the project management function and key stakeholders.
    6. Work closely with Regional Management Teams (Regional Sales Directors and Regional Service Managers) to ensure resources are deployed when and where needed in both the pre and post sales process.
    7. Serve as a hands-on Project Manager for assigned projects.

            

    Qualifications:

    Education/Experience:       

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field; MBA preferred.
    • Minimum of 8 years project management experience in a manufacturing or similar environment with at least 2 years of experience leading a project management team.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar verification of advanced Project Management training and experience required.

    Language Ability:       

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.        

            

    Math Ability:       

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.        

            

    Reasoning Ability:       

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.        

          

    Computer Skills:       

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in MS Office, project management software, and ERP systems.         

            

    Certificates and Licenses:
    Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.       

            

    Supervisory Responsibilities:       

    Directly supervises a team.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include hiring and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; applying recognition and discipline as appropriate; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and developing associates through coaching, counseling, and mentoring.  Ensures effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
