POSITION SUMMARY:
This leadership role develops and directs the strategic planning of multiple projects and oversees coordination of personnel and resources required to successfully complete projects associated with strategic partnerships and both internal and external programs.
The Project Management Director will create and implement improved project and program management and business operations methodology and processes to help ensure Sampled achieves its ambitious commitments to the scientific community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Ensure systems put in place are compliant with worldwide procedures and drive accountability throughout the organization and will facilitate and drive resource prioritization with business partners on an ongoing basis.
- Lead end-to-end efforts to scope, develop, and handle Sampled project plans / schedules / deliverables / statuses; ensure project timelines are appropriately led throughout project lifecycle.
- Lead initiatives that support a more efficient operation, information management, and reporting.
- Work closely with internal / external stakeholders to effectively lead project delivery and ensure value realization and develop / track corrective actions when requirements are not met.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project managers, project coordinators, team leads, technical leads and consultants on the project.
- Resolve conflicting priorities among groups throughout the organization as they relate to project implementation & adoption.
- Oversee project kick-off meetings that are led by the program managers to inform internal processing labs of project goals, scope, budget, and timelines.
- Adhere to the PMO’s standards, utilizing industry best practices and techniques throughout entire project execution.
- Partner with the Process Improvement Director to identify how teams can leverage existing strengths and improve their weaknesses through various business process improvements.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to implement process improvements in order to create more efficiency and consistency across the organization and improve client experience.
- Implement a comprehensive management plan for each project and hold regular stakeholder meetings to keep all interested parties updated regarding strategic projects. Anticipate roadblocks, uncover areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Partner with business development and lab operations to ensure all project data meets operational planning requirements and supports business growth initiatives.
- Manage short- and long-term client program and project forecasts in collaboration with business development.

- Manage a team of trained program managers of various levels.
- Effectively manage team to realize successful ongoing profitability and financial metrics.
- Serves as escalation point for the team and team’s customers.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and deliver a training curriculum for program and project managers based on Project Management Institute global standards.
- Identify, coach, and grow future leaders. Help employees assess their skills and identify development objectives.
- Lead the development and implementation of schemas, workflows, and queries to compile, summarize, and analyze data for recurring technical reports.
- Support the evaluation of data and/or sample processing requirements and make decisions regarding sample processing approach.
- Partner with Scientific Affairs, Business Development, Comm Operations, and Finance to prepare technical reports for use in grant applications, RFI/RFP responses, project reports, invoicing. etc.
- Will make decisions based on experience and lab needs to optimize overall client delivery dates.
- Coordinate and lead effective customer business review meetings with the project managers, business development, and Comm Ops team.
- Leads project managers to translate protocol-level sample needs into clearly defined deliverables in support of program start up. Leads program managers to translate these needs for each individual study or project.
- Attends daily/weekly strategic governance meetings in which overall operations and strategic planning for future developments is discussed and implemented.
- Has input and advice into overall operations and strategic planning and has responsibility for implementing changes to meet overall operational and strategic goals.
- Make decisions based on experience and needs to optimize overall program management as it supports the laboratory operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:- 10 or more years of experience (or Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or Molecular Biology field or equivalent with 6 or more years of experience) in Commercial organization supporting the biopharma industry.
- Knowledge of commercial and operational procedures including sample tracking procedures, logistics considerations, chain of custody, issue escalation/resolution and data management.
- 10 or more years of experience managing high-volume and complex biopharma projects and programs that required coordination of activities across multiple departments and external partners.
- Experience developing and leading multiple program and project plans and taking corrective actions to mitigate risk.
- Ability to proactively identify opportunities for efficiency and increased productivity and think strategically, analytically, and creatively to problem solve.
- Analyzes data and prepares reports or presentations for Senior Leadership and clients as appropriate.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Project and Program Management methods to ensure team stability in supporting client needs.
- Significant experience in a customer facing role.
- An accomplished leader, with significant experience effectively managing a team of professionals with a focus on team development.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, resolve conflict, and influence the work and outcomes of team members even if they are not direct reports.
- A collaborator, able to work closely with department leads to implement process and create SOP’s to achieve better quality, consistency, and oversight of projects and programs across Sampled
