Project Manager - Construction directs day-to-day construction project management planning and execution processes to meet project design requirements, schedules, and organizational financial objectives. Manages governance of projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools for effective project management throughout the project lifecycle. Being a Project Manager - Construction uses comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and operations to set project productivity and quality targets. Monitors all project milestones, changes, and technical status reports. Additionally, Project Manager - Construction manages strategic client and contractor relationships and establishes clear lines of communication. Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions. Analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Project Manager - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Project Manager - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Project and Construction Manager

  • Work under the direction of the President in coordination with the Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager to plan, design, coordinate, and execute various projects, capital improvements, and new construction projects. Assist the Maintenance Manager with upkeep and maintenance of vessels, vehicles, equipment, buildings, and grounds. Operate safely and within budget.

    Mid-October thru mid-March. 40 hours per week, no overtime. Mid-March thru Mid-October. Longer hours, weekend shifts and overtime are expected. Typical schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch, subject to change with charters and evening maintenance. Two days off per week once the season has started.

    • Knowledge: Experience with; and deep understanding of, the Riverboat Discovery and Gold Dredge 8 operations.
    • Basic skills in carpentry, electrical troubleshooting, plumbing, vehicle maintenance and small engine repair. Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment. Experience in steel and aluminum fabrication.
    • Customer-Service Focus: Must understand that customer service is a top priority and must conduct all actions with this in mind.
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Must be flexible and able to produce appropriate solutions quickly, working across the organization at times. Must be able to find creative solutions to unique problems and employ a logical and organized thought process. Must be able to identify potential maintenance issues before they become problems. Must be able to see a project through from concept and design to execution.
    • Organizational Skills: Must know how to keep yourself and others organized and how to determine which tasks are the most important in each list. Must be able to create and follow a budget.
    • Communication Skills: Must collaborate with department managers and support personnel, and vendors on a regular basis.
