Project Manager - Construction directs day-to-day construction project management planning and execution processes to meet project design requirements, schedules, and organizational financial objectives. Manages governance of projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools for effective project management throughout the project lifecycle. Being a Project Manager - Construction uses comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and operations to set project productivity and quality targets. Monitors all project milestones, changes, and technical status reports. Additionally, Project Manager - Construction manages strategic client and contractor relationships and establishes clear lines of communication. Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions. Analyzes project metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Project Manager - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Project Manager - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • A General Engineering Contractor based in Napa County is seeking to hire a full-time grading and earthwork in-Field Project Manager to join its team. Eakle Construction & Trucking, located in Pope Valley, primarily operates in Napa, Sonoma, and Lake Counties. Our projects offer a diverse range of services, including site development, site demolition, rock breaking, crushing and removal, drain line installation and layout, septic systems, ponds, vineyard development, and more.

    • Provide day-to-day oversight and direction to the foremen and field personnel assigned to on-site construction projects.
    • Trimble experience preferred.
    • Must be able to read plans.
    • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
    • Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory requirements related to the construction project's needs (e.g., encroachment permits, USA Dig notifications, OSHA, etc.).
    • Read and understand proposals and the scope of work
    • Manage and control assigned projects.
    • Facilitate pre-job meetings with all parties. i.e. soils engineers and inspectors.
    • Review the job with the foremen and bring them up to speed on the scope of work and job-specific tasks and challenges. Ensure the foreman understands the project scope and budget.
    • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution.
    • Promote and maintain a good working relationship with the owner, engineers, architects, and inspectors.
    • Ensure the foreman immediately informs you if there is a change in the scope of work.
    • Forecast equipment needs with foremen so the correct equipment is on the job and rental equipment is returned in a timely manner.
    • Assessing job priorities and assigning employees to appropriate tasks.
    • Communicating with foremen to have material and trucking orders placed so the material is on-site at the start of the project.
    • Making sure employees have the tools and equipment needed for the job.
    • Ensure safety precautions are followed, including updating safety kits in case of any emergencies during the work.
    • Giving clear directions to workers as to what needs to be done to avoid mistakes.
    • Ensure company rules/policies are followed.
    • Make sure jobs are completed on time per the schedule. Identify scheduling conflicts.
    • Review plans and specs for ways to minimize project costs.
    • Review timesheets each day for accuracy and extra work.
    • Review extra work tags with foremen to ensure accuracy.
    • Perform superintendent duties at multiple job sites simultaneously.
    • Preside over weekly contractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
    • Ensure that all equipment on the job site is cleaned and maintained daily.
    • Perform job progress and punch list completion items.
    • Assist in budgeting and bidding.
    • Gather project material submittals and maintain records of approvals and changes at the job site.
    • Identify areas of work that are outside the scope of bid work and track any change orders.
    • Assist in hiring employees.

    Education and / or Experience:

    • Minimum of five years of verifiable experience in grading and earthwork projects and be computer literate.
    • Previous Superintendent experience at least 2 years
