Water and Wastewater Engineer

  • Position Title: Water and Wastewater Engineer

    Location: Great Basin National Park, NV

    Salary Range:  $95,000 to $110,000 DOE

    Period of Performance: 8 months of full-time and then 3 months of part-time

    Project/Position Overview:

    This project will replace or rehabilitate the deteriorated wastewater collection system and the failing Cave Springs water distribution system at Great Basin National Park.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Possess a knowledge of construction work within water and wastewater to observe, document and confirm conformance to the contract, plans and specifications.
    • Possess the ability to walk or climb daily to observe contract performance.
    • Can understand cost estimates broken down at a minimum to prime and subcontractor labor, equipment, materials, overhead and profit and the ability to evaluate proposals broken down to that level.
    • The ability to define and document scope changes either required by the owner or a result of a differing site condition.
    • The ability to understand and document negotiations between the Government and the Construction Contractor for the technical scope requirements, prime and subcontractor labor, equipment, material, overhead and profit.
    • Ability to evaluate payment requests.
    • Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction. 
    • CMR is to be familiar with all contract terms and conditions, laws, policies, and guidelines related to the tasks.

    Education, Knowledge and Skills:

    • Have a minimum of 10 years design experience in water and wastewater required.
    • Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required.
    • Knowledge and experience with construction practices including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations.
    • Knowledge in construction practices including applicable building codes, safety regulations, ability to facilitate, understand and document pre-inspections, inspections during construction and post inspections, ability to inspect mock-ups.
    • Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications.
    • Written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
    • Knowledge of software including ProjectTeams, MS Teams, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, MS Project and any other software programs typically utilized for construction management services. 
    • Maintain a valid driver's license.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
