Property Casualty Underwriting Director directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Ensures the quality and integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Director develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has extensive knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Claims Assistant, Commercial Property & Casualty compiles and maintains records of all P&C Claims transactions. The Claims Assistant also performs at the direction of the technical/professional staff of the claims team and reports to the Claims Supervisor.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Monitor the new claims’ inboxes
    • Intake and set up new claims in the claims system
    • Assign claims to the appropriate adjusters using the provided matrix
    • Send claim receipt acknowledgments to brokers and insureds
    • Review and distribute mail to the adjuster assigned to the claim
    • Monitor and triage voicemail messages
    • Field calls from claimants, brokers, attorneys, and the insureds
    • Invoice insureds for reimbursement of liability deductibles and maintain the liability deductible spreadsheet
    • Ensure that credits on files are properly routed and credited to each claim
    • Interact with accounting regarding payment requests
    • Act as a liaison for ordering supplies
    • At an adjuster's direction, contact the insured and the claimant on new claims to get proper information about the loss
    • Request medical records and police reports, as applicable.
    • Handle lower-tier 1st party property damage (glass) claims.
    • Maintain and manage claim diaries.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Competencies:

    • High school graduate, college degree preferred
    • One year of typing and filing experience
    • Office 365 experience required
    • Type 50 wpm accurately
    • Knowledge of office practices and procedures

    Salary Range:

    • $40,100.00 - $56,000.00 annually
    • Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
    • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
