Property Casualty Underwriting Director directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Ensures the quality and integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Director develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has extensive knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

     

    Primary Job Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the overall daily operation of the apartment community.
    • Responsible for Supervising the entire property staff.
    • Responsible for the overall leasing operations of the apartment community including following up with prospective residents, showing apartment units and closing the sale.
    • Responsible for resident relations and handling complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Responsible for the care, maintenance and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the property and/or the management company.
    • Responsible for collecting all monies owed by residents and following the IMM collections policy.
    • Perform property inspections and documenting deficiencies as well as directing staff to repair or replace any items found.
    • Responsible for moving out residents, conducting move-out inspections and overseeing the unit turnover process.
    • Be aware of and always operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and company safety policies.
    • Responsible for thorough knowledge of management company policies and property community policies.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Accomplishing goals and objectives set by Supervisor and keeping the property financially on track with the set budget.
    • Seek and maintain qualified vendors to conduct repairs and maintenance on the property when needed.

     

    Skills, Abilities and Knowledge Needed

    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Organized and manages time well. 
    • Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) as well as previous experience with a Property Management Software.
    • Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly.
    • Ability to lead a team of employees.
