Property Casualty Underwriting Director directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Ensures the quality and integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Director develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has extensive knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. We are seeking a Director to lead our team of Property Managers and Compliance Specialists. The Director of Property Management is a member of the leadership team and shares responsibility for the overall performance of our portfolio of properties throughout Maine.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership background with the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently. We are looking for a self-motivated and highly adaptable candidate with the ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
Essential Functions of the position
· Oversight of Property Management & Compliance Staff; ensuring adherence to industry regulations, applicable state landlord-tenant laws, Fair Housing and Non-Discrimination laws, Americans with Disabilities Act and Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing.
· Oversee the performance, work load and work flow between multiple departments to include leasing, resident services and facilities.
