Property Casualty Underwriting Director directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Ensures the quality and integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Director develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has extensive knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Description

The Director of Engineering supports this mission by working closely with all maintenance engineers and property managers on the upkeep of their buildings which includes, HVAC, Energy Management Systems, roof and capital expenditures, incident reports, contracts, etc.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Primary contact for all equipment operations and maintenance matters for an assigned portfolio.
    • Provide day-to-day supervision of engineering staffs daily activities. Manage engineering staff resources to include: hiring recommendations, training and development, and conducting and /or monitoring performance and evaluation process.
    • Provide oversight and assist as required with the service, repair, and maintenance to ensure the condition of all building systems and equipment; preserve the value of the property and to minimize downtime.
    • Plan, forecast and schedule all necessary major CapEx and OpEx, repairs and improvements for the assigned portfolio. This includes presenting recommendations to the client, budget development, handling the bidding process, and responsible for overall project management.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective preventive and predictive maintenance program for task scheduling, routines, and performance. Program to include procedures for annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly and other scheduled maintenance as provided by the manufacturers recommendations and/or industry best practices
    • Respond to all emergency situations quickly (fire, evacuation, equipment failure etc.) and client concerns
    • Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment; identify and resolve issues.
    • Handle any special projects, reports and assignments as requested.
    • Assist Director of Property Management in implementation of client and/or regional initiatives. Provide management and leadership for continuous improvement efforts; develop best practice initiatives for sharing locally and nationally.
    • Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills as they will be dealing with senior level clients, property managers and field engineers

    Qualifications


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree and licensed mechanical engineer with progressive field experience preferred.
    • A background working with a mechanical contractor would be considered a plus.
    • Record of producing results in their prior work experience and good project management skills.
    • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, ZOOM, Skype, MS Teams)
    • Proficient with Smartsheet and other electronic data compilation sheets
    • Valid drivers license

    Compensation:

    The Director of Engineering compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. This range is subject to local, state and regional dynamics and may be adjusted up or down depending on market conditions.

    Physical Demands:

    • Individual must be able to climb on roof tops while inspecting roofs and HVAC equipment
    • Must be able to walk long distances as doing walking buildings with engineers can cover several buildings

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • This position may guide the work, coach, and mentor Building Maintenance Engineers in their assigned region/portfolio

    Travel Requirements:

    • Up to 25%, In-state and outside home state as required
