Prepares records of articles according to chain of custody procedures and maintains evidence database. Being a Property and Evidence Clerk releases property or evidence being retained to designated party for court presentation or other disposition. Maintains storage facility and coordinates proper disposal of sensitive materials including narcotics, bio-hazardous materials, firearms, and explosives. Additionally, Property and Evidence Clerk typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Property and Evidence Clerk works under moderate supervision. CLERK - Chenango County's Department of Behavioral Health Services has an opening for a CLERK. This is routine clerical work involving the performance of a variety of standardized clerical tasks. An employee in this class makes copies, files, sorts mail, answers telephones and performs other routine clerical functions. The specific duties of incumbents assigned to this class will vary depending upon the needs of the department or agency to which assigned. Detailed instructions are given for new or unusual assignments. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher level employee in accordance with well-defined policies and procedures. Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EITHER:
(A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; OR
(B) Two years of full-time paid office clerical experience or its’ part-time equivalent.
A civil service examination will be required for permanent appointment at a later date.
Position status: Competitive.
The position starts at $17.11 per hour in 2024 and includes a full benefits package.
