Our Idaho Team is currently seeking two Sample Preparation Technicians to join our summer field program working on a phosphate exploration drilling program near Soda Springs, Idaho. Technicians will be responsible for collection, transport, and preparation of drill core samples for assay and archival. If applicant is a current student in geology or other applicable science program, this position will be considered a paid internship. Sample Preparation Technicians will work under direct supervision of the jobsite Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
· Promote a safe and productive working environment.
· Attend pre-job training and orientation.
· Work closely with technical staff and project manager to execute work on projects.
· Travel to exploration drilling sites and collect samples for delivery to processing facility.
· Ensure sample organization and integrity to provide the highest sample quality.
· Prepare samples for shipment to laboratory for assay, while strictly adhering to chain of custody and other accepted Standard Operating Procedures.
· Transport samples from processing facility to laboratory for assay or secondary storage for archival.
· Clean sample collection.
· Provide field exploration drilling assistance as needed.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
· Previous experience not required.
· Must be a safety-oriented individual and adhere to all company safety requirements.
· Strict attention to detail to ensure a very high level of quality control for sample processing.
· Open and flexible to working long hours (~50 hours/week) in potentially inclement weather conditions.
· Ability to work the duration of the field season, which is currently slated for early/mid-June (weather dependent) through early August.
· Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time on hard or uneven surfaces.
· Ability to walk through rough and uneven terrain.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license and can drive a 4WD work vehicle on narrow, unimproved exploration roads in adverse conditions.
Employment Conditions:
· Must be legally eligible to work in the United State of America
· Successful completion of a pre-employment background screen, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, and a pre-placement fitness for duty evaluation
· These positions will be stationed out of the Mine Office. Technicians will be expected to drive to the mine office. Work Schedule will include rotating 10-day-on, 4-day-off schedule.
· This position is subject to a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test. We offer a competitive hourly wage.
· Employment will be through a third party but reporting and work assignment will be managed by Stone Ridge Contracting.
