Provider Contracting Manager manages the activities of the contracting staff that prepare and maintain contracts and the contracts database system for a health plan network. Responsible for negotiating with facilities joining the health network and setting rates. Being a Provider Contracting Manager oversees network reporting requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, and to produce accurate and relevant reporting of data.     $60.812 - $78.468 - $96.123


    The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.


    What You Will Do

    Manages, supervises, and oversees the operations of Sharp HealthCare's System Supply Chain Services, Strategic Sourcing and Contracting department. Manages the team responsible for the sourcing and competitive bid process for medical supplies and purchased services. Responsible for obtaining the best value and contractual terms and conditions for supplies and services, as well as identifying cost savings opportunities, and supporting the development and implementation of product standardization and best practices in accordance with Sharp's strategic initiatives and operating targets.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Public Health, or related field.
    • 5 years' experience in sourcing/procurement and contracts operations.
    • 3 years supervisor or management experience required including setting and managing expectations, goals, and performance of the department staff.
    • Experience with GPOs and/or corporate contracts.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's Degree Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Public Health, or related field.
    • Experience with Workday ERP system.


    Essential Functions

    • Daily Operations
      Manages, supervises, and oversees the operations of System Supply Chain Services strategic sourcing and contracting team. Responsible for the day-to-day management of sourcing and contracting personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution, motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance, and ensures team compliance with the department and company policies and procedures.
      Uses internal and external benchmarks to monitor both existing performance as well as future initiatives.
      Manages the process of scheduling, conducting and reporting the results of supplier business reviews with key suppliers.
      Manages and drives compliance to established monthly metrics and report key performance indicators.
      Investigates and researches issues or questions brought to Supply Chain 's attention by physicians, management, and other key stakeholders in regard to their specific department or hospital operations.
    • Leadership
      Recruits, develops and retains staff, provides feedback and conducts staff performance evaluations, determines individual training plans and ensures overall staff competencies.
      Ensures staff lead initiatives to gain a thorough understanding of the contract terms, conditions, benefits and value of agreements within the assigned portfolio to develop strategies and tactics to promote agreement within the system.
      Leads and manages team to obtain a thorough understanding of core sourcing processes that include market research, development of business requirements, contracting strategy, administration of bid processes, and successful completion and implementation of new contracts.
      Develops polished executive-level presentations and confidently present the information to internal customers in a clear and concise fashion and guide the audience to the desired end result.
    • Contract Management
      Manages the Sourcing and Competitive Process and strategies including RFP development and distribution, RFP evaluation and selection process. Oversees the 'Negotiation' and 'Contracting' process including the planning and execution of successful negotiations, development and implementation of new vendor partner agreements; develops, reviews, and revised Corporate Business Partner policies and procedures; and ensures that Corporate Business Partners understand and comply with Sharp 's Business Associate requirements.
      Coordinates and ensures smooth implementation of contracts which enhances the GPO, Distributor(s), and Business Partner relationships. Ensures that key stakeholders, supply chain staff and vendor partners are aware of ongoing contract implementation activities.
    • Financial Management
      Assists Director of Strategic Sourcing, Contracting, and Value Analysis in the analysis of financial data by department, service line, product spend and procedure categories. Supports process improvement, business development, and improved decision making by providing fiscal impact data, identifying financial opportunities, and measuring effects of change. Assists in evaluating existing contracts and services, new business opportunities, and strategic business plan initiatives.
      Enhances the operation of the department by assisting the Director and other entity stakeholders in key decision processes within supply chain, including analysis of supply spend, indirect spend, value analysis/product sourcing, contract execution, implementation, and administration, performance management, and utilization management.

    • Exercises effective listening and business judgment skills with a demonstrated ability to separate ancillary information from the primary content being communicated, asking appropriate questions to clarify and confirm understanding.
    • Demonstrates the ability to process and understand all information and facts necessary for effective decision-making.
    • Strong analytical, financial, written and verbal communication, contractual negotiations, team-building, and organizational skills are essential.
    • Knowledgeable in procurement, contracts, terms and conditions, and applicable tax laws.
