- Basic Function: The Network Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects. Assists in providing network and remote connectivity. Supports and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances. Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security. Researches, analyzes, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server or data network problems. He or she may also assist with other responsibilities, as needed. Essential Functions: Directs or assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of network systems to include desktop PC’s, servers, network equipment, and software applications. Help to ensure the integrity and security of all network hardware Install network hardware and software and make needed upgrades and repairs Maintain network and computer system security and ensure that all systems are operating correctly. Maintain security patches and updates on network servers and equipment. Maintain a surveillance / camera system. Install new hardware as needed and keep the system in proper working order. EDI Co-Coordinator - coordinate all Electronic Document Interchange Systems and oversee implementation of new trading partner applications. Ensure Backups / Replication of network servers and data. Coordinate backup schedules and/or rotation with the IT Support Specialist. Backups should be verified at a minimum of once each quarter and whenever significant hardware or software changes are made to the target device or backup system. Assist in other areas of IT as needed. Skills / Competencies: Superior communication skills Excellent organizational skills Strong analytical and interpersonal skills Excellent problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
