Reports to: Pharmacy Manager or designated Pharmacist in Charge
I. Job Summary:
Assist in coordination of daily activities in the Pharmacy Department under the supervision of a registered pharmacist consistent with state and federal regulations. Performs functions to support pharmacy staff with related medication preparation or client delivery process. Maintains a clean and orderly pharmacy working area appropriate to guidelines.
II. Qualifications:
1. Possess minimum Pharmacy Technician Temporary License and obtain Full Licensure within twelve months as defined by the Michigan Public Health Code. Full Pharmacy Technician Licensure preferred. Limited License exception allowed with Executive Management approval.
2. Meet technician employment requirements of the respective state.
3. Ability to assemble and maintain records and to present data as requested by registered pharmacist.
4. Ability to work in a team oriented environment, utilizing interpersonal skills with others in the work setting.
5. Ability to follow through on tasks and plan daily or weekly activities.
6. Evidence of good communication skills, integrity, initiative and creativity.
III. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Will work under direct supervision of licensed pharmacist performing duties considered acceptable by that respective State Board of Pharmacy.
2. Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, inputs the prescription for filling. Gathers necessary medications and solutions, prepares the prescription and products for the pharmacist to check under the direct pharmacist supervision, as allowed by the respective State Board of Pharmacy.
3. Maintains compounding records, prescription logs and quality control notebooks as determined by the pharmacy manager, and by Advanced Care policies.
4. Performs quality control procedures including daily temperature checks of refrigerator and freezer.
5. Cashier duties as needed
6. All other duties as assigned by supervisor
IV. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
o Inside-protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Employee spends 100% of time inside.
