Position: Systems and Network Support Specialist
Terms of Employment:
52 weeks
Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
Non-Represented classification
Benefits per Non-Represented agreement
Compensation: $50,000-70,000 (commensurate with experience)
Job Summary:
The systems and network support specialist role is responsible for focusing on escalated technology requests and project related issues as well as implementing new technologies and solving problems in innovative ways as the technology landscape changes. This work involves an understanding of the following: Virtual and physical servers, security appliances, networking devices, wireless technology, cloud-based email platforms, and IaaS services, plus a variety of 3rd party line-of-business applications.
Qualifications:
Experience in troubleshooting computer wiring configurations and working knowledge of all current operating systems including Windows, Linux, MacOS, ChromeOS , and iOS
Knowledge of and experience working with Microsoft Active Directory domains, Azure, Group Policy, and MDM solutions.
Requires the ability to work cooperatively with others and be part of a team. This includes fully documenting all projects and trouble tickets so others can follow behind and support those projects. Additionally, effectively communicating with teammates around issues, ideas, and differences.
Demonstrates good personal habits such as mature and responsible judgment, honesty, patience, discretion, friendliness, and self-initiative.
Willingness to continue to grow professionally and improve one’s skill set by investing time in self-paced online courses, vendor competencies/certifications, and formal online/classroom instructor-led training. You will be expected to keep up-to-date with the changing technological landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning, installation, and management of Windows and Linux servers and services, such as Hyper-v, Active Directory Services, DNS and DHCP, LDAPS, NTFS permissions, File Shares, RDS, log management, SAN technology, EDR solutions, etc.
Planning, rollout, and management of district-wide cloud based systems such as AzureAD/Entra, Google Workspace, AWS, etc.
Planning, installation, and management of district-wide network equipment upgrades and topology modifications. Supports and maintains all components of the district wide area network and building local area networks, including switches, firewalls, routers and other devices connected to the network.
Assists in planning and implementation of cyber security initiatives with regard to servers, network, desktops, and backup systems.
Assists with supporting Microsoft Windows desktops, iPadOS support, and automated operating system and application deployment (e.g. SCCM, InTune, Apple MDM).
