Job Role: The Manager, Developmental Sports Programs, is responsible for the recruitment, training, retention, and oversight of Special Olympics Florida’s Developmental Sports Programs including but not limited to Unified Champion Schools, Young Athletes, Little ELITES, Motor Activity Training Program, and Rising Stars.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications, Adaptive Physical Education, or a related field required
- At least two (2) years of experience in education, non-profit or a related field
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate efficient time management skills
- Have own reliable transportation, good driving history, and valid FL driver’s license
- Regular attendance required
Responsibilities:
- Promote and expand Unified Champion Schools & Developmental Sports Programs (Young Athletes, Little ELITES, Motor Activity Training Program, and Rising Stars) in assigned areas
- Supervise and support all assigned registered Developmental Sports Programs; identify and recruit others that are appropriate for Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement
- Identify and recruit schools or community/adult sites not yet participating in Developmental Sports Programs and/or competitive school-based programs
- Train site coordinators and provide necessary support to ensure that athletes are receiving high quality training and that all Special Olympics Florida guidelines are followed
- Oversee planning and execution of culminating events including securing venues, purchasing necessary equipment, supplies and rentals, brand implementation, entertainment, meals, t-shirts and EMT
- Engage relevant stakeholders (parents, school teachers, community leaders and district-level staff) and collect impact stories
- Develop growth and retention strategy to increase participation through all Special Olympics Florida Developmental Sports Programs offerings in assigned area.
- Collaborate with key community and school district leaders and Special Olympics Florida staff to create transitional community based opportunities for all school based participants
- Maintain current knowledge of Special Olympics Florida program rules, policies and procedures
- Additional duties as assigned
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to travel and complete weekend and evening duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Status : Full-time exempt position; this is a grant funded position
