SEH is expanding into Florida! We are hiring a talented Civil Engineer to join our growing team in the North Florida area.

Your options as a civil engineer are endless at SEH. Some engineer better communities – complete streets, safer sidewalks, more sustainable utilities, and trails and parks. Others specialize in large-scale projects, like stormwater management facilities, watershed basin studies, master stormwater plans, dams, landfills, harbors/marinas, ports, airport layouts, structural retaining walls, bridge projects, water and sewer projects and geotechnical projects. Regardless of the project, you’ll have your hands in the mix through all phases of a project: planning, pre-design, design, contract documentation, bidding and construction. Your addition to our Civil Engineering team in the Tallahassee or Panhandle / North Florida area will be instrumental to our expansion. You will help provide technical advice, lead projects, meet with our clients and focus on timely and profitable projects. Your ability to pursue and secure project work is important, building client relationships in conjunction with regional marketing priorities is high priority.

The Opportunity:

• Immediate involvement in on-going projects to expand into new markets
• Provide technical advice, lead projects and teams, manage client relationships and deliver profitable projects to grow our Civil Practice
• Work in a collaborative team environment where you’ll impact team decisions and mentor/supervise our junior engineers and technicians
• Work from home flexibility. Relocation is possible but not required.

What you will be doing:

• Building client relationships
• Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing multiple projects for a variety of clients
• Understanding market needs and trends to identify and act on opportunities to win work
• Maintaining close relationships with clients throughout development of projects and after completion
• Hiring, managing, mentoring, and working with staff as needed to provide a positive team environment.
• Maintaining an understanding of relevant regulatory programs, funding opportunities, design standards and procedures through active participation in continuing education programs and professional associations
• Representing SEH with local governments, municipalities and other agencies at project and public meetings
• Responding to RFQ’s
• Preparing project approaches, scopes and fees required to complete projects
• Presenting proposals to clients, interviewing for projects, and selecting project teams
• Determining major project design decisions in conjunction with client

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering field of study
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years previous experience with design, construction and project management of municipal infrastructure and/or land development projects
• Experience in proposal writing and client management; demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities and win project proposals
• Must be located in Florida with being able to travel for client meetings, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Twenty (20) years of previous experience in the Civil Engineering field
• Located in Tallahassee or Panhandle / North Florida area.
• Experience with water and wastewater projects
• Previous experience managing a staff of engineering professionals and serving as a technical mentor for junior level staff
• Current affiliation and/or membership with local, state or national Civil Engineering societies and associations
