    St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) invites applications for the Vice Provost for Academic Policies and Student Success in the Office of the Provost, Academic Affairs Division. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position open only to full-time SEU faculty at the level of associate professor or above. This position begins July 1, 2024, and will report to the Provost. St. Edward's is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission to educate the hearts and minds of a diverse student body that is deeply committed to social justice.


    The successful candidate will provide leadership and ensure that St. Edward's University fulfills its academic mission and responsibilities in serving students from entry through post-graduation. The Vice Provost for Academic Policies and Student Success will also ensure that the institution leverages technology, data, and collaboration among faculty and staff in support of student success objectives. The position will be responsible for oversight of the following departments/programs: Academic Counseling and Support, Student Achievement Initiatives, Academic Policies and Procedures Career Planning and Professional Development, Student Disability Services, Academic Support Programs, International Student Services, the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), Student Success Business Analysts, and Student Success Communications.


    For consideration, the candidate must meet the qualifications below:

    • Terminal degree in their discipline from an accredited college or university.
    • Currently holds faculty status (associate rank or higher, tenured preferred) at St. Edward's University.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience related to implementing student success strategies and academic policies within an academic department or school with demonstrated results
    • Experience using and analyzing data, and leveraging technology to support student outcomes
    • In In-depth knowledgeable about academic requirements, procedures, and campus resources.
    • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across offices within Academic Affairs and across divisions at the university
    • Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents
    • Previous supervision experience and management of direct reports
    • Evidence of effective management of a budget
    • Prior administrative experience as a department chair, program director, or associate dean

    Essential Responsibilities Include:

    • Maintain an organizational structure and staff model to effectively accomplish the university's goals and objectives related to retention, progression, graduation, and post-graduation.
    • Provide leadership, programmatic coordination, oversight, and support of academic student services areas.
    • Establish and implement short- and long-term organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness, and changes required for continuous improvement.
    • Provide leadership to the coordination, implementation, and assessment of the university retention, progression, graduation, and post-graduation strategic plan.
    • Review, assess, and update the University retention, progression, graduation, and post-graduation strategic plan annually.
    • Collaborate with the Vice Presidents, Vice Provost, Deans and Directors of institutional units to ensure leadership and oversight in academic policy administration, student success, retention, and graduation.
    • Develop a data-driven framework to support strategies to optimize retention for the Graduate Program.
    • Coordinate the activities of all areas of the university as they affect retention and persistence to graduation
    • Review undergraduate and graduate student appeals for reinstatement after dismissal and decide on reinstatement and probationary status
    • Develop and manage assigned budgets and maintain appropriate departmental correspondence and records.
    • Review retention, progression, graduation, and post-graduation academic policies and procedures and work collaboratively with university committees to recommend changes and enhancements to improve operational effectiveness, clarity, consistency, and adherence to the University's mission and strategic plan.
    • Oversee academic integrity and academic policies and processes related to grade appeals, academic misconduct, exceptions to academic policies, and university policies related to Credit by Exam.
    • Oversee the publication of the Undergraduate and Graduate Bulletins
    • Supervise the Director of Academic Policies and Procedures.
    • Oversee and execute articulation agreements with community colleges
    • Provide leadership to the management and implementation of the existing CRM student retention software.
    • Provide leadership to the development, management, and implementation of a new CRM student retention software.
    • Oversee the development and preparation of Tableau reports, briefings, presentations, and responses on retention issues.
    • Create and implement CRM (existing and new) training programs for University faculty and staff members.
    • Serve as a non-voting member of Academic and Graduate Councils; ensure alignment of curricular changes with academic policies, recommend probation and dismissal decisions for undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Serve on relevant committees, workgroups, and task forces in support of University goals and objectives. Coordinate and Chair the School and General Education Retention Teams
    • Co-Chair the University Academic Operations Team
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
