  • Overview

    The Executive Assistant must possess outstanding organizational and communication skills and be diligent and proactive in support of Hillsdale College’s Assistant Provost for K-12 Education in various administrative capacities.  Candidate must have an excellent understanding of the mission of Hillsdale College and its philosophy. This position demands high functioning independent administrative, logistical, and clerical practices. 

    Responsibilities

  • Review paper and electronic correspondence, prioritize, and route for action.
  • Work closely with K-12 Education Office and Hillsdale Academy staff to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Handle sensitive information with appropriate discretion and sensitivity.
  • Handle administrative tasks, light research, writing and editing, as needed.
  • Organize and attend meetings, take notes, and provide follow up and tracking of tasks.
  • Prepare briefings for appointments.
  • Manage complex calendars, travel arrangements and expense reporting.
  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality, as appropriate.
  • Assist in after-hour activities as needed.

    Education and Experience

    This position requires a high school diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and a minimum of five (5) years’ administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.          

     

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of office procedures and computer skills
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to express ideas effectively
  • Keep calm and remain personable under pressure
  • Possess sound judgment and maturity
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadline pressures
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Accurately proof read, edit, or write correspondence in a timely manner.

    The K-12 Education Office interacts with College staff, visitors, and donors.  A neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission are essential.  This relationship needs to be supportive and professional while maintaining confidentiality as needed.
