    Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time faculty position of Vice Provost. This position reports directly to the University Provost and is located in River Forest, Illinois.

    The Vice Provost is the chief academic officer of Concordia University Chicago ("CUC" or the "University") and is responsible for guiding all academic programs and activities and managing all academic resources across CUC. The Vice Provost is charged with the development, implementation, and assessment of academic policies, processes, and programs. The Vice Provost ensures the delivery of high quality academic programs and learning experiences for all students, in furtherance of the University's mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan. The Vice Provost reports to the Provost and supervises the academic deans, the Assistant Provost for Academics, and the Registrar, to provide support and services that are integral to student success and missional integrity.

    Responsibilities/Duties:

    • Oversees all curricular and co-curricular academic programs, events, and activities at the undergraduate and graduate levels
    • Strengthens firm commitments to academic excellence, a robust engagement with the faith across academic disciplines, and student success
    • Oversees the management of all academic colleges, offices, centers, institutes, personnel, budgets, and other academic resources
    • Oversees the development, evaluation, and application of all academic policies and procedures
    • Oversees the management of services for international students
    • Fosters an academic life among faculty and students that adorns CUC's Lutheran identity and accomplishes its Christian mission
    • Provides direction and guidance for all academic plans in conjunction with the academic deans and other appropriate colleagues
    • Collaborates with the Deans and other relevant offices to implement new programs and revise or sunset existing programs, as appropriate
    • Coordinates with Admissions, Marketing & Communications, Financial Aid, Student Success, and other appropriate offices to recruit, support, educate, retain, and graduate students
    • Fosters collegial relationships and shared governance while nurturing and enhancing accountable leadership
    • Collaborates with the President, SVPs, and VPs as a member of the Executive Cabinet to make strategic decisions that further the University's Lutheran identity, Christian mission, and financial strength and flexibility
    • Ensures an institutional focus for offices across all University functions in conjunction with the EC
    • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS)

    • Expertise in academic program review and both regional and disciplinary accreditation processes
    • Demonstrated commitment to the full range of programs and modalities that characterize a high-quality, modern, comprehensive university
    • Familiarity with processes and procedures requisite for serving diverse traditional and post-traditional students, programs, faculty, and staff
    • Ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary
    • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and needs
    • Proficient with commonly-used office computer applications and technology
    • Working familiarity with the structure of private, faith-based higher education in general and the educational institutions and doctrinal positions of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) in particular

    Minimum Experience Required:

    • Experience with and appreciation of the centrality of academic affairs in the university budget planning process
    • Strong record of success at progressively senior levels in higher education, with specific experiences in managing within a highly complex institution
    • Experience in curriculum planning and the development of a wide range of academic programs
    • Experience with, and a commitment to, shared governance
    • Active membership in a Christian church and strong commitment to the Biblical faith

    Minimum Experience Preferred:

    • Current/active listing on one of the Commissioned/educational ministry rosters of the LCMS
    • Active membership in an LCMS congregation
    • Experience as an academic dean or assistant/associate provost

    Education Requirements:

    A Doctoral degree in a related discipline is required
