Join us to become part of what we are building for our communities and patients! Psychiatrists diagnose, treat and help prevent psychiatric disorders in a community health center setting. Prescribe and monitor medication. Collaborate with medical providers and Behavioral Health team. Provide continuity of care to each patient.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders
• Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric advance practice registered nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
• Document treatment and consultation
• Consult with medical team and BH team
• Be responsible for supervising and mentoring residents regarding psychiatric diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental disorders
• Analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of psychiatric disorders and evaluate for co-existing or contributing medical conditions.
• Prescribe, direct, and administer medications to treat psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
• Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
• Performs assessment of new clients and updates returning clients
• Manages and monitors med compliance
• Provides supervision and instruction to residents.
• Keeps records as required
• Documents all patient care activities
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary health care team
• Maintains at least minimum CME certificates as required by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
• Adheres to all Erie Family Health Center policies & procedures.

Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge: 

• Licensed physician in the state of Illinois
• Proficiency in medical Spanish preferred

Experience: 

• At least 3 years of experience in community health or with a similar patient population while in training is preferred
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, MD or DO
