Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice.     About the Position

    Lane County Behavioral Health in beautiful Eugene, Oregon is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic adult psychiatrist for its community outpatient clinic. This is the ideal position for the clinician interested in the rewards associated with serving more vulnerable patients through the public mental health system while also achieving an excellent work/life balance. The position involves performing psychiatric assessments, consultations, and follow-up appointments for clients in the general adult and/or forensic clinic while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Integrated care opportunities with affiliated primary care clinics may also be available.

    *This is a full-time position, although part-time requests will be considered. There is also the flexibility to do some telemedicine work from home, if desired.

    Training:

    • Graduation from an approved school of medicine with an MD or DO degree, completion of an approved residency program in psychiatry by time of appointment, and board certification as a psychiatrist, or the ability to become board certified within 24 months.

    Special Requirements:

    • Possession of a current State of Oregon license as a Medical Doctor (MD or DO)
    • Board Certification by a recognized national board in Psychiatry or ability to become board certified within 24 months
