Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice. The RTC is located on 43 tranquil acres in the suburbs of Chicago. Residential treatment includes a state-approved school for adolescents and 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-per-week medical care. Our intensive, holistic treatment model results in a depth of recovery that is transformative for residents and fulfilling for our staff.
Our team is led by a nationally known team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and our clinicians have exceptional credentials in evidence-based and outcome-supported practices. This team is supported by a staff of registered nurses, licensed clinical social workers, licensed expressive therapists, registered dietitians, and certified educational administrators and teachers facilitating around-the-clock, comprehensive care. This physician will have interest and experience in treating Eating Disorders and will develop our residential eating disorder program as the leader in the field within Chicago and the United States. The ideal candidate will have prior clinical experience treating primary eating disorders in either a residential, a hospital eating disorder setting that provides a complete continuum of care.
