Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice.   • As a Psychiatrist for Swope Health's Behavioral Health Department, you will be apart of a team of caregivers who provide care and support for those who need it the most. Our Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric services for Child/Adult patients of Swope Health. You will use a variety of methods to evaluate and treat patients. This includes; interviewing the patient, their family or other persons. Developing treatment plans according to patient’s needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental or behavioral disorder.     Primary Responsibilities: 

    1. Provides limited and/or comprehensive psychiatric assessment and management.
    2. Establishes and monitors system for psychiatric approval of diagnosis/problem lists, case management plans and staff review of client progress.
    3.  Establishes criteria for required psychiatric evaluations and monitors performance against those criteria.
    4. Establishes and maintains consultation and referral system with physicians and the other providers in the Center and in the community.
    5. Will perform duties Tele Psychiatric services and face-to-face.
    6. Participates in activities of community services program as needed.
    7. Primary responsibility for inpatient services with assistance of the designated inpatient manager.
    8. Prepares necessary reports.
    9. Member of the Professional Standards and Practices Committee.
    10. Must complete Patient Safety Training curriculum.
    11. Performs other duties as assigned.
    12. Daytime hours are negotiable. No weekends. PT Only. No PRN.
    13. Behavioral health services will be provided at the primary clinics through Behavioral Health Consultants.

    Successful Candidate Will Have:

    1. MD / DO from an Accredited University
    2. Completed ACGME Accredited Residency Training in Psychiatry
    3. Board Eligible or Board Certified as a Psychiatrist Physician licensed to practice in the State of Missouri
    4. Excellent  clinical and communication skills
