Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice. We are rapidly growing in Sandusky, Ohio at our two locations as well as in Norwalk, Ohio and surrounding areas.
     
    The Psychiatrist will provide outpatient psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a primary care setting. Fulfill collaborative physician relationship with psychiatric nurse practitioners for all behavioral health locations.
    Essential Functions
    1. Conducts psychiatric intake and follow up examinations
    2. Makes diagnoses and prescribes medication and psychotherapy.
    3. Participates in behavioral health conferences and recommends appropriate treatment approaches
    4. Confers with patients’ relatives regarding illness and treatment
    5. Participates in weekly management meetings.
    6. Assists through consultation in establishing psychiatric programs and policies
    7. Keeps medical records and prepares psychiatric reports
    8. Completes other duties as assigned
    9. Utilizes face to face and telehealth/virtual appointments
     
    Required Skills/Abilities
    • Board certified in adult and pediatric psychiatry preferred
    • Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry; current developments in the field of psychiatry and clinic organization, management and procedures
    • Ability to skillfully diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients
    • Ability to analyze situation and adopt an effective course of action
    • Ability to prepare records and reports
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
    • Ability to maintain objectively and confidentiality

    Education/Experience
    • Board certified or board eligible in adult Psychiatry; secondary certification in pediatrics preferred
    • MD or DO license in the state of Ohio
    • DEA Certificate
