Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice. At Toledo Center, we offer unique programming for children and adolescents (ages 10- 17) of all genders, as well as robust family programming. Our eating disorder treatment center also offers a residential program for adult females as well as a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults of all genders.
The Psychiatrist is primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with community prescribers. Position ensures clients are medically stable and clinically appropriate upon admission to treatment services. Provides pharmacological treatment, if indicated, and requests and reviews any needed lab work. Position collaborates with team members to oversee and promote the health and safety of clients throughout the treatment process.
Relationships and Contacts:
Within the organization: Initiates and maintains frequent and close professional working relationships with the facility Executive Director, nursing staff, the facility medical director, and direct care team members.
Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clients and families, clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.

Experience and Education
Must be a Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist licensed to practice within the state of Ohio. Requires a minimum of 2 years’ of professional experience in a behavioral healthcare treatment setting, previous eating disorder treatment experience strongly preferred.
