Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice.     Description

    At Toledo Center, we offer unique programming for children and adolescents (ages 10- 17) of all genders, as well as robust family programming. Our eating disorder treatment center also offers a residential program for adult females as well as a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults of all genders.

     

    The Psychiatrist is primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with community prescribers. Position ensures clients are medically stable and clinically appropriate upon admission to treatment services. Provides pharmacological treatment, if indicated, and requests and reviews any needed lab work. Position collaborates with team members to oversee and promote the health and safety of clients throughout the treatment process.

     

    Relationships and Contacts:

    Within the organization:  Initiates and maintains frequent and close professional working relationships with the facility Executive Director, nursing staff, the facility medical director, and direct care team members.

    Outside the organization:  Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clients and families, clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.

     

    Essential Responsibilities

    1. Provides compassionate and professional psychiatric care and guidance to clients, ensuring optimal levels of client health and safety.
      • Cultivates and maintains a client-centered approach to care, recognizing and adapting to cultural diversity in the provision of care, incorporating client’s cultural and spiritual preferences, values, and beliefs into the provision of care.
      • Cultivates and maintains a client-centered approach to confidentiality, privacy, comfort, emotional support, mutual trust, and respect.
    2. Collaborates with Medical Director/Medical Providers in the provision of medical care to clients.
      • Completes all required client assessments/evaluations within appropriate timelines as required by payor and regulatory bodies.
      • Completes medical record and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner to meet regulatory and payer requirements.
      • Provides medication management services for clients in care, as needed.
    3. Provides case consultation in person and by telephone in unusual or urgent situations, as needed.
    4. Provides consultation, education and related information to clients and the families, increasing treatment success through program engagement.

    Additional Responsibilities

    1. Provides consultation to clinical partners as needed to ensure continuity of care.
    2. Participates in marketing and outreach events on occasion, as requested.
    3. Performs other activities, as requested.

    Qualifications


    Experience and Education

    Must be a Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist licensed to practice within the state of Ohio. Requires a minimum of 2 years’ of professional experience in a behavioral healthcare treatment setting, previous eating disorder treatment experience strongly preferred.

     

    Other Requirements

    • Active and clear DEA License.
    • TB skin test, or equivalent, and background check clearance in accordance with regulatory requirements.
