    Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Medical Director to oversee our Adult Outpatient Services and the Neil S. Hirsch Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Clinic. As part of our Medical Director position family, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality psychiatric care and shaping the future of mental health treatment. 


    The Medical Director – Outpatient and TMS Services manages the range and quality of psychiatric medical care for Adult Outpatient Services and the Neil S. Hirsch TMS Clinic. This position combines clinical expertise with administrative leadership, overseeing a team of psychiatric providers and ensuring standard and uniform care delivery to our diverse client population. As a vital member of the treatment team, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, prescribe treatments, and participate in developing and implementing guidelines and procedures. 


    Primary Responsibilities: 

    • Lead a team of motivated professionals to provide uniform and standard care to clients with varying medical and mental presentations.
    • Oversee the Neil S. Hirsch TMS Center, personally prescribing and overseeing treatments and collecting and reporting data.
    • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and manage a caseload of patients with a combination of TMS, medication, and non-medication management.
    • Participate in utilization management/review and ensure appropriate billing for clinical services rendered.
    • Develop, update, train, and implement guidelines and procedures for adult outpatient medical care.
    • Manage the clinical operations of the Medication Assisted Treatment services and review/update guidelines as needed.
    • Participate in administrative activities, including meetings and quality assurance activities.
    • Provide education to teams about TMS treatment, medication management, safety, and side-effect monitoring.
    • Participate in precepting and education for nursing students, medical students, residents, and psychiatric ARNP students.

      

      

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    EDUCATION: MD/DO  

    EXPERIENCE: Experienced, 1 year of post-residency practice in an academic, community health, or TMS Clinic setting 

    LICENSURE: MD/DO -Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. Licensed to practice medicine in Washington.  Specialization in psychiatry.  Board-certified or Board-eligible in psychiatry. Active and unencumbered (II-V) DEA registration in WA State.  

      

    Performance Requirements: 

    KNOWLEDGE: 

    1. Understanding of state and federal law regarding the practice of psychiatric medicine as well as established, legal standards of care.
    2. Knowledge and practice of evidence-based treatments in psychiatric management of a broad array of mental health problems and severe mental illness.
    3. Knowledge and proficiency of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
    4. Plans for maintaining a working knowledge of cli nical standards in all areas of practice.
    5. Willingness to learn and follow federal SAMHSA mental health rehabilitation standards
    6. Has knowledge and experience working assessing suicidality and safety concerns, has required state training in suicide prevention strategies.
    7. Has knowledge and experience working with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders, including all manner of Medication Assisted Treatment.

      

      

      

    SKILLS: 

    1. Ability to set a positive tone for multidisciplinary collaboration, upholding the values of KMHS. 
    2. Communicates effectively with non-medical service lines, both with staff and leadership, in a motivating and consensus building manner.
    3. Communicates and manages care collaboratively with other treating medical providers, including primary care and specialty care providers.
    4. Demonstrates skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
    5. Participates in leadership and consultative capacity appropriate to the role in multi-disciplinary teams.

      

    ABILITIES: 

    1. Demonstrated experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record to generate evaluations, clinical notes, letters, and reports on time consistent with agency policy and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
    2. Demonstrates ability to manage time and schedule to meet patient care needs and agency requirements.

      

    Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.  

      

    Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. 

      

    Mental/Physical Requirements: Sustained concentration, emotional regulation, high level of problem-solving capacity, and professionalism.
